Being a good parent is itself one of the biggest challenges a person can face, without even worrying about the fact that you are a role model and influence your children with everything you say and do.

Although most parents acknowledge the value of good nutrition for their child’s wellbeing, many are unaware that the lifestyle choices made as a family are a large contributor to the lifestyles your children will lead in the future.  Teaching your children to eat healthily and to be aware of what they eat is a never-ending process.  It is important for you to encourage a healthy relationship with food from a young age (preferably when children are toddlers) as this will not only help avoid future eating battles and diminish the fear of new foods but also decrease the chance of future food obsessions.

Many parents are victims of making the mistake of creating food rules excluding sugar, sweets, preservatives and so forth.  A large problem is that these practices often take the joy out of eating, particularly healthy foods, and generate a negative attitude and behaviour with regards to healthy and unhealthy foods and how they taste.

Below you can find a range of information with regards to healthy eating and specialist advice for children’s eating needs as well as interesting articles about why certain foods are so addictive and as a result also bad for us.

A healthy relationship with food is one of the best gifts you can give your child.
